About HSMemes.com
What is a "meme?"
A meme is basically an inside joke on the Internet. It usually starts out by someone uploading a picture (from a movie or tv show, from an event, or just something silly found online) and adding a caption to it. Other people then upload their own with a spin on the original caption, and so on. Any meme can be tweaked into a personal joke while still keeping the original idea. If you want to see more memes in action and get a quick explanation for each one, check out our parent meme site, Memestache.com.
What topics are good to use on HSMemes?
The best jokes on this site are ones about your shared high school experience for your particular school. Tired of your school parking lot being under construction all year? Come up with a funny play on words from your History class? Not sure what that weird soup in the cafeteria is made out of? Love the stories one of your teachers always tells? Make a meme about it!

I found an inappropriate post. How can I get it removed?
There are two ways to remove an inappropriate post:
My school is flooded with negative posts. How can I clear all of them or delete the school entirely?
Once again, if you see any inappropriate posts, click on the white flag. However, if you notice a school being overrun by a spammer, send an email with the link/URL of the school to highschoolmemes[at]gmail[dot]com. Depending on what we see, we'll clear all content for the school, or remove school listings for repeat offenders. Please note that we aim to retain all data (IP addresses, etc.), even in cases where a post or a school is wiped from our live site.
All the posts for my school, or the school itself, suddenly went missing. What happened?
Please see the above question. If someone's abusing a school on our site, we'll clear all content or take the school listing down when necessary. We'll also block offensive users when we can. So, be nice! Memes are about fun and humor, anyway!
I can't post anything to this site. Why?
Chances are you were blocked from this site for posting negative content. Shame on you! If you think this is an error, send an email with your case to highschoolmemes[at]gmail[dot]com.
I haven't received a reply yet. Why not?
Be patient! We know an important email when we see one, and will be sure to respond to you as soon as we can. If we still haven't, chances are you might've emailed us about one of the following:
Other HSMemes Questions and Features
My school isn't listed. How do I add it?
First, do a thorough search for your school. Still can't find it? Follow these easy steps:
I misspelled my school. Can it be fixed?
D'oh! At this time, no. We'll be adding editing features in the near future. Send an email to highschoolmemes[at]gmail[dot]com with a link to your school to have a moderator delete it. Then you can start over. But do it right this time!
Why aren't founders listed on this site?
We've disabled this feature temporarily, and will be bringing it live again soon. Once it goes live, you will be able to remove your name as founder using the same email address you used to sign up, and then others will be able to compete for the title!
Why don't I see a meme I made from uploading my own picture?
Any uploaded pictures need to be approved by a moderator before they go live on the site, so this may take some time. Try using our existing templates instead!
How do schools reach the top 10 list?
This one's kinda tricky, and it's something we'll be tweaking now and then. In general, the more you interact with your school (by making posts, +like or faving posts, commenting on posts and sharing with your friends), the higher you'll climb in the ranking. For the latest details, check out the blog!
Why am I banned?
One of our newest moderation tools automatically bans IP addresses that receive a certain number of flags. Some networks (such as schools or public libraries) use shared IP addresses, which means this temporary ban might affect the computer you're using.

I found an inappropriate post. How can I get it removed?
There are two ways to remove an inappropriate post:
- Click on the white, "Flag as Inappropriate" flag on the top left of any post. Two flags from two different users will bring the post offline. This means, if you and a friend each flag a post on different computers, you can take it offline. Pretty simple, huh? Please note it may take up to 10 minutes before you'll see results.
- If that doesn't work, send an email with the link/URL of the post to highschoolmemes[at]gmail[dot]com. Remember, if you don't include the link to the post, it will take us longer to find it! Help us help you.

First, do a thorough search for your school. Still can't find it? Follow these easy steps:
- If you do a search for your school, on the results page you'll notice a link at the top that says, "Can't find your school? Click here to add it!" So, go click it!
- A pop-up will ask for your name, email, school name, city and state. Be sure to use a valid email address, and check your spelling!
- After you add your school, you'll need to make a few memes and tell your friends to get the ball rolling. Once that's all done, your school will be live and ready to go. Enjoy!
